Zira was a Martian criminal who was exiled to Earth with Tarka, the Crusader from Mars. Their mission was to rid Earth of crime. If they failed, they would be destroyed, and so would Earth. Zira took on the identity of Zira Winters, secretary to Tarka in his identity of FBI agent Alan Wheeler, and assisted him in his battle against crime.
