Queen Thula of Mars is discussing the forest of petrified trees with Spurs Jackson, Strong Bow, and Rapid Fox, a member of Strong Bow’s tribe of pueblo-dwelling Mayans, in the Painted Desert of Arizona. Thula gives Strong Bow a “pluvia flower” from Mars, which she insists will grow even in his desert. When Jackson and Thula board a rocket to return to Mars, Strong Bow discards the flower, not believing Thula’s claim. The discarded flower immediately grows into a strong, verdant pluvia tree. A number of the petrified trees of the forest come to life, revealed to be Stone Men from space. The Stone Men chase Strong Bow and Rapid Fox. Strong Bow’s arrows and rifle have no effect on the creatures, nor does Rapid Fox’s throwing knife. The Stone Men capture the pair and tie them to the pluvia tree. Strong Bow and Rapid Fox easily escape, and cut the pluvia branches to take for arrows. Strong Bow uses the radio to call the army base, saying only an A-bomb will stop the Stone Men. The army says they must wait an hour for the A-bomb to arrive. Rapid Fire and Strong Bow loose the pluvia arrows. The arrows rapidly grow into a forest of 30 foot high pluvia trees, penning in the Stone Men. Jackson returns with Thula on the rocket, and drops the A-bomb on the Stone Men. The Stone Men are once more petrified, and gathered into a military transport truck.
