The Panther Man was a legendary half-man and half beast creature prowling the jungles of South America. Sutton and her suitor Joe Strong traveled to the Islands of Cocos. Once docked, Sutton and Strong began their search, and the Panther Man attacked them several times, with Strong almost mauled to death. Unknown to Sutton and Strong, the Black Hood had followed them. When the trio found the ruby, in a hidden cave, the Panther Man struck again. The Black Hood fought the foe, hurtling him against a cave wall, causing loose boulders to topple down. The Black Hood twisted away, but the Panther Man was killed. He was unmasked and revealed to be Barbara’s butler, who had been followin them.
