Mona the Panther Girl was created by the scientist Robert Lewis. Lewis was experimenting with a hormone gas that had the ability to revive the dead. He experimented with it on animals. When a dead rabbit he had applied the gas to was resurrected as a fox, he discovered the strange side effect of transforming the animals into completely different creatures. Lewis purchased a panther from an exotic animal breeder, and after killing it with a nerve gas, he applied his hormone formula to the corpse. The panther was reincarnated as a young woman. She still possessed the savage mind of her original form, so Lewis took it upon himself to educate her. She quickly learned to speak and act human, and Lewis fell in love. Mona’s predatory nature remained and, late at night under a full moon, she reverted to her original form and attacked someone on the street. Learning of the attack, Lewis was concerned Mona was responsible, but put his fears aside. On the day of their wedding, Lewis and Mona met before the ceremony, and he finally voiced his fears. Mona reacted violently. She transformed into her cat form and killed Lewis. As a panther, she caused a panic among the wedding attendees at the church, charging through the crowd and escaping through a window. Lewis’ body was soon found, and Mona was reported missing.
