In 12th Dynasty Egypt, 4000 years ago, Prince Amentep was imprisoned by the evil magician the Black Pharaoh, his rival. While Ibis is imprisoned a relative gave him the “Ibistick,” a magic wand with which the user can control or create any object. Ibis used his newly gained powers to escape the jail and defeat the Black Pharaoh. Ibis’ beloved fiance, Princess Taia of Thebes, was wounded by an enchanted arrow during the final battle. Ibis learned the arrow put her under a spell in which she will sleep for 40 centuries, so Ibis put himself in a trance, as well. He awakens in 1940, covered in mummy wrappings inside an American museum. Ibis goes to Egypt, awakens Princess Taia, and then embarks on a quest to fight crime and evil. Ibis is a magician, but most of his powers come from the Ibistick, which can do almost anything, but later becomes powerless against black magic. Besides the Black Pharaoh, Ibis fought Attila the Hun, Adolf Hitler, Loki, a villainous Catman, Dr. Hex, Dr. Hookah, the Flying Dutchman, Gog & Magog, Guardians of the Tomb, Half-Man, Horrible Hand, John Oberon the Hydra, and many more.
