Gary Hale was the boyfriend of Marla Drake, who was secretly the costumed vigilante Miss Fury. While Hale loved Marla and asked her to marry him, he thought of Miss Fury as nothing more than a crazy thrill seeker with no regard for the law. He eventually married and had a child with Baroness Erica von Kampf, who was kidnapped by Dr. Diman Saraf. Miss Fury rescued the boy and, unaware, of his true parentage, adopted and raised him as her own.
