No, this trope isn’t about people named after rock stars. Some fictional characters (and some real people) are named after things that can be dug from the ground, such as rocks, gems, metals, and minerals. Naming women after jewels is the least conspicuous version of this — it is quite common for girls to be given names like Ruby, Opal, or Crystal. Using other variants tends to attract attention. The line for elemental metals would likely depend on how likely someone without a formal scientific education would be aware of the metal’s existence, so characters named Gold and Silver would be this trope while ones named, say, Vanadium and Yttrium would be “Scientific and Technological Theme Naming”.
