The Fish Scale Man is the central suspect in the disappearance of Eileen Warder. Human fish scales are found at the scene of the crime. Durrand Draw, “Tracer of Missing Persons”, is called in the investigate. He and his assistant Beth stake out the Warder mansion at night. Draw discovers a tunnel, and he and Beth tussle with a groundskeeper, who they best in a fight. The duo find Eileen Warder tied up in the tunnel. Draw enters the house and talks with a sketchy gardner, then comes upon bedridden Ralph Warder, who says he has ichthyosis, a skin disorder that develops as scaly, rough, and red “fish scales”. He admits to being forced to kidnap his niece by his butler and gardner. Draw fights the gardner, solves the case.
