Prince Zayn Al-Asnam discovers an underground palace with eight statues of “jewelled images”. Zayn Al-Asnam sets out on a quest for a beautiful young girl, to be placed on a ninth, unoccupied pedestal. A Jinn gives Zayn Al-Asnam a mirror called the touch-stone of virtue, which Zayn Al-Asnam uses to discover whether the damsel he chooses is chaste. After a long search, the daughter of a Wazir turns out not only to be beautiful and virtuous, but also a prize by the Jinn to Zayn Al-Asnam as his wife.
