The Torch led a small army of anti-Americans wearing armor and wielding torches identical to his own. The gang was referred to as the “Walking Torches”, “Destroyers,” and “Flame-men”. Their headquarters was underwater, and they apparently had respirators that allowed them to breathe underwater. The Torch himself was a Nazi agent. The gang went on a rampage in an American city and was able to overwhelm the local police. The Torch and his gang were ultimately defeated by the Blue Beetle and his sidekick Sparky.
