After a young acrobat in Cooper’s Carnival loses his parents to a broken trapeze, the boy is raised by Hercules, the resident strongman act, and The General, a man with dwarfism. They help him recover from his injuries and become physically fit. He learns the magician’s art from Wandami the Great, judo from Hirokind, the dexterous manipulation of lariats and whips from Tim Thorpe, renowned Western star, and all manner of knowledge from Professor Wisdom, “the Man with the Encyclopedic Memory”. Years later, he leaves the circus and opens a school of physical culture and muscle-building. He takes on the title of Strongman. That same day, acrobat assassins escaping from a job in the skyscraper shoot and kill Hercules. Strongman uses his strength and skills to become a crime fighter and bring the killers to justice. He wore a standard circus strongman costume in his battle against the evil forces that roam the world.
