When chasing a petty criminal named Banco into the sewers of Rome, Signor Renzi, Commissioner of Police, along with an officer named Pietro, hear Banco cry out. They find Banco dead with most of his flesh missing. The two officers get lost and encounter the Green Horde. Renzi sacrifices Pietro. The Green Horde recognize Renzi’s surrender and manage to communicate with him through an inhuman language and gestures. Signor Renzi comes to understand that the Green Horde wish him to provide more people for them to consume. He agrees, first directing them to tunnel into a vault of the Bank of Rome. They bring him back millions in gold. In return, Renzi directs them to a displaced persons camp, where the Green Horde kills and eats all therein. Renzi tires of the deal. He tells the Green Horde to forget any further dealings. The Green Horde kidnap his wife and daughter. He goes to the sewers to plead with them, but the Green Horde have already killed his family. Signor Renzi soon meets the same fate.
