Rudolph Sevarian is a vampire hailing from Hungary. He travels to the “American West” where few people have heard of vampires and, thus, unfamiliar with their vulnerability to silver bullet or wooden stake. Sheriff Sam Morrow is the law in the town. He meets Sevarian when he arrives in town via stagecoach, and directs him to the hotel. Morrow carries a charm on a chain, which Sevarian asks the hotel clerk about. The hotel clerk thinks his mirror is broken when Sevarian doesn’t appear beside hik in it. Sevarian retires to his room. Sevarian begins a killing spree. His first victim is town drunkard Jud Barton. Morrow catches the mysterious vampire killing on multiple occasions, but his bullets have no effect. Distraught, Morrow turns in his badge. Sevarian follows Morrow home. Morrow, angry at his failure, loads his gun with the charm awarded him by the town after subduing the “Black Death Gang”, and shoots blindly through a window, unknowingly striking Sevarian dead before he could attack. The charm was a silver bullet.
