Needlenoodle was a racketeer who wanted to take over Northville’s operations, but knew that the Black Hood would stop him. So he decided to uncover his secret identity. Needlenoodle figured that since Kip Burland was always around when Black Hood was on the scene, it meant Burland was either Black Hood himself or knew the Hood’s identity. Needlenoodle kidnapped both Burland and his friend Mac, and threatened to kill Mac unless Burland talked. Burland revealed his identity but fought off Needlenoodle and his gang. The villain escaped. Black Hood ended up quitting masked crime fighting and became a private eye. Needlenoodle went to Burland’s office, pretending to have turned over a new leaf and wanting to hire his services. It was all a set up to frame Black Hood for murder. Hood escaped, only to find his secretary Barbara Sutton kidnapped by Neddlenoodle. The two fought Needlenoodle, who tried to escape by boarding a train. Black Hood followed him and they fought on top of the cars. Needlenoodle fell and was crushed by the train.
