A mysterious spacecraft comes to Earth to sample large swaths of dirt using an enormous dredging machine. Professor Malcom Salem investigates with his assistant Judd. His report describes an extra-terrestrial trawler, but he’s dismissed. When the dredging is finally seen in action, and under Salem’s recommendation, the countries of the world band together, sending a fleet of “nuclear-powered fighting ships” to destroy the alien threat. A U.N. Guard Patrol is established at Salem’s recommendation, uniting the world in so doing.
