Lugi was the commander of a group of Molemen soldiers who went to the surface and captured big game hunter Congo Jack, bringing him to their underground kingdom. Lugi becomes violently jealous of Jack when the surface dweller becomes the object of affection of Queen Moletta. Lugi tries to kill Jack while he slept, but was caught, and sentenced to die in the “black pit”. Jack spoke up for him, asking the queen to show Lugi mercy. Even though Congo Jack saved his life, Lugi still loathed him, and decided to rid himself of his enemy by joining forces with the Blue Dwarfs and their King Bobo, who were enemies of the Molemen kingdom. Bobo was killed and Lugi was imprisoned for his involvement in the coup, while Jack returned to the surface world.
