While Harrell is treating him, Dawson learns Harrell knows about Dr. Boyle’s work on Dawson. To eliminate the chance that Harrell figures Dawson as Boyle’s murderer, Dawson kills Harrell, as well, and flees to his apartment. He realizes he’s murdered the two men who could have helped him. The police come across Dr. Boyle’s appointment book, with Dawson listed. The police continue to Dawson’s apartment, but Dawson refuses to come out. When the police enter, they find him melting.
