Gullivar Jones was a former Lieutenant in the Confederate Army who arrives on Mars thanks to a magic carpet. He falls in love with a Martian princess of the Hither Folk and fights the villainous Thither Folk. However, he is not a very accomplished adventurer and fails both to win his princess’ heart or defeat his enemies. Gullivar Jones was the inspiration for John Carter, Warlord of Mars.
