Grand Vizier

“It is the year 2230 and science has triumphed over the baseness and depravity that caused the wars of the twenty-second century!” Dr. Mark Savant hears of incidents of human sacrifice permitted by the government of the planet Genero. His assistant, Ventro, can’t believe it any more than Mark. Mark, Ventro, and Mona take the Astro II spacecraft to investigate. When Mark arrives on Genero, he is greeted by Mago Sartorus, the Grand Vizier to King Gaarlo. Mark expresses his desire to meet with the king, but Mago says it’s impossible as the king is too busy with state affairs. In a meeting with King Gaarlo, as Mago says Mark is evil, Mark and Ventro barge in. Mark threatens to inform the authorities. Gaarlo agrees to speak in private. Gaarlo tells Mark that Mago insists the sacrifices are necessary to appease the Octeel and keep his kingdom safe. During their meeting, Mago has Mona kidnapped. King Gaarlo comes around to Mark’s way of thinking when word reaches them that Mago has taken Mona. Mark goes to the water-caverns to face the Octeel and rescue Mona. He finds the creature preparing to attack Mona. Mark fires his “electro-gun” but the Octeel, part electric eel, is unaffected. Mark and Mona retreat deeper into the caverns. On the way to the caverns, Mago sees the Astro II taking off. He thinks Mark has killed the Octeel and radioed his crewman to pick him up. Mago encounters the Octeel, which kills him. Mark uses a harpoon device attached to a cable to throw at the Octeel and kills it. Becauase the Octeel held a positive charge, and the cable had a negative charge, the Octeel is shorted out. The Inter-Stellar Police round up Mago’s henchmen, ending human sacrifice on Genero.
