The Fisherman of Space was a massive demonic looking creature created in prehistoric times out of cosmic gasses. Being very sensitive about his appearance and bored with immortality, he gathered the most intelligent and strongest specimens from the human race throughout history to serve him on the Island of Lost Souls. The island was protected by a never-ending storm which prevented the Fisherman’s prisoners from escaping, and, mysteriously, also from aging. The Fisherman lives in the island’s volcano and only left his home to gather more prisoners. However, two captives, Inspector Haversham and Sir Cyril Bentley, used a radio in one of the downed planes to contact a Dr. Crandell for help. Crandell instructs the US Military to drop dry ice and sodium iodide on the Fisherman. Because he was made of clouds, the chemicals caused him to become rain, destroying him, and freeing his prisoners.
