Fat Fury

Herbie Popnecker was the antithesis of superheroes. He was short, fat, emotionless, terse, young, but also one of the most powerful and well-known beings in the universe! He was irresistible to women, consulted by world leaders, and stronger than the Devil. Although being “well-known in the universe,” his father and mother were completely unaware of his great powers and fame, with his father constantly calling him a “little fat nothing,” even though he was a financial failure with one poorly-conceived scheme after another (which Herbie would bail him out of every time). He derived some of his powers from genetics, and some from magical lollipops from the Unknown. Herbie’s powers included heat vision, invisibility, talking to animals, flight, and whatever else the story called for. While it’s true that Herbie never donned a costume until Herbie #8, he was already referred to as “The Fat Fury” as early as Forbidden Worlds #116. Herbie is Alan Moore’s favorite superhero.
