Dr. Nerod, super-scientist, was working on nonlethal weapons for the US military in his mountain retreat laboratory. One of these nonlethal weapons was a virus spread by flies which would put infected enemies to sleep, and, in sixty days, kill them, unless treated with an antidote. The Americans would then take the infected enemies captive and only cure those who promised to never fight again. In order to protect the Allies from being infected, Dr. Nerod created a sophisticated infrared, or “ultra-red”, ray that prevented the flies from breeding. The plan was implemented and worked effectively against the enemy making war a “useless enterprise.”
