Doctor B. goes to the Château de Sirvoise, called by the Duke of Castièvre who asks him to devote time to providing him with care and attention. On his arrival, he realizes that the duke is not in his usual state. He admits to him that he bought the castle for a pittance, under the pretext that it was haunted, but since then, people have accused him of having created this fable. To cheer up the duke, our doctor suggests that he organize a costume ball at the castle. During the ball, our duke disguised as Charles V harangues the equestrian statue of Francis I which comes to life. But, is it really Monsieur de Rocroy, the fiancé of the sister of the Duchess of Castièvres, who is in the armor?…
