From his private satellite base, Vulcan leads a band of space pirates intent on raiding shipments of supplies to colonies on the Moon, turning the cargo fleet into dust, leaving no trace. The space pirates use an artificially-created “cosmic cloud” as camouflage. Commanding the cargo fleet’s flagship, Captain Roland is suspicious of the cloud, noting to Lieutenant Darius that the area should have been clear of cosmic activity. After making the delivery to the Moon, Captain Roland reports the cosmic cloud to his superiors. He suspects space pirates. Meanwhile, Vulcan with his lackey Renzi plan their attack. When next the convoy leaves, Vulcan orders the cosmic cloud created and prepares to strike. Captain Roland, anticipating the cloud, disperses it with “devaporizing blasters”. The cargo fleet then takes the initiative, attacking the space pirates first with an “atomic cannon”. The space pirate ship is rendered inoperable. The convoy takes the disabled pirate ship into tow and completes its delivery. The pirates are brought to trial and convicted, given the sentence of exile. This means time in a penal establishment on the dark side of the moon.
