Clipper Kirk

Clipper Kirk was a daredevil air ace who fought against the Axis powers and other enemies of America. Clipper Kirk first appeared in Wings Comics #1 (Sep. 1940), in a strip titled “Clipper Kirk”, alongside another unrelated feature titled “The Phantom Falcons”. In Wings Comics #68 (Apr. 1946), in a story titled “Who is the Phantom Falcon?”, Clipper Kirk was presumed dead after a particularly vicious battle. Kirk decided to remain officially dead and adopted the costumed identity of the Phantom Falcon in order to bring his would-be assassins to justice. His strip is re-titled “Phantom Falcon” in Wings Comics #69. After bringing his attempted killers to justice, he decided to act as Phantom Falcon fulltime. After World War II ended, he adopted the civilian identity of Chet Horne and became an assistant to the Chief of Police. Throughout his run as both Clipper Kirk and Phantom Flacon, he was quite brutal, often killing the criminals he encountered.
