Carol Halliday

Interplanetary Explorer, “Bring ‘Em Back Alive” Ron Adams, demands a half-million dollars from Halliday for the construction of a spaceship to travel to the planet Xarto and retrieve the giant man-eating Plant-Monster of Xarto. Halliday only agrees to front the money if Adams will take the man’s daughter, Carol Halliday. Adams is reluctant, but agrees. Adams hires Hendricks to build the ship, the Adventurer. The ship is prepped for the journey. Halliday adds Hugo Parsons to the crew to help handle his difficult daughter. The ship arrives at Xarto. Despite Parsons’ efforts, Carol balks at Adams’ orders and slips away alone. Adams goes searching for her, finding the carnivorous plant is attacking her. Adams and the crew save her, and she begins to obey Adams’ orders. They return the next day to capture the plant and bring it aboard the Adventurer. Parsons reveals his intentions to take the cargo and Carol, aiming a gun at Adams. Adams knocks the gun out of Parsons’s hand and escapes in a “glider auxiliary” craft; a two-person, saucer-shaped vehicle. Using the Adventurer’s weapons, Parsons fires at them, damaging one of the glider’s rockets. Adams is forced to land in a copse of trees. The Adventurer is too large to follow him. The next morning, Carol is grabbed by one of the crew. Parsons manages to get the Adventurer into a clearing. Adams struggles valiantly against superior numbers, but to no avail. Hugo demands Adams repair a lever Adams grabbed before leaving the ship. As Adams does so, Parsons prepares to kill him. Carol grabs the gun from Parsons. Parsons and the crew are caught and eaten by the killer plant. Ron Adams prepares to destroy the monstrosity, but Carol stops him, knowing the value of the plant.
