Jack “Bomber” Burns was a US stunt pilot, but after his co-pilot, Dave Matten, was killed by Germans who almost killed Burns as well, he steals a Lockheed XP-38 fighter, the fastest plane in the world. Burns modifies the plane by giving it special superchargers, an oerlikon cannon, twelve browning machine guns, and a flamethrower. He names the newly modified plane “The Firebrand,” chooses a bright red costume, and begins his fight against the Nazis.
