In a now borderline racist depiction, an instructor of Chinese descent shares his knowledge of Hsin-Chiu, a planet that once existed between Mars and Jupiter, and the eminent scientist Yang who foresaw its destruction, and whose warnings were ignored. With some faithful followers, he constructed Yang’s Ark and left just as Hsin-Chiu exploded. These refugees settled in the area of Earth now called China, and the instructor surmises that Chinese people are descendants of Hsin-Chiu. Their advanced science, the dragon symbol they revere, which resembles Yang’s Ark, (problematically) their physical appearance, and their moniker “Sons of Heaven,” all point to their distant origin on another planet. The remains of Hsin-Chiu now comprise the asteroid belt.
