Spunky was the Blue Beetle’s sidekick after Sparky left for parts unknown. Spunky also left without warning or mention but, popped up again months later and faced the front lines of the war. During this period, however, Spunky abandoned his costumed identity, working in civilian clothes alongside his costumed mentor. Most sites claim this character and Sparky are one and the same however, no comic states this (and, along with codenames being different, the two characters had different alter-egos as well).
