Spitfire

Englishman Black Douglas was intercepted by pirates during his journey to the New World in the 18th century. Although he proved his worth in combat, too many of his crew were killed, and he was captured. He was thrown into a longboat and left to die. After several hours adrift he reached a mysterious island. He drank a strange water with a peculiar taste, then fell asleep surrounded by strange gases from hot springs. The water was the Spring of Eternal Life. The gases preserved him as he slept for 200 years. He woke in the 20th Century when an underwater earthquake closed the vents. He encountered a Nazi U-boat and requested a ride back to England. At trip’s end, the Nazis revealed their plan to blow up the Royal Navy in Scapa Flow. Douglas attacks, discovering he can exhale the gas from the island and use it as a weapon. He beached the U-boat and escaped before it is shelled. Watching an air battle between the RAF and Luftwaffe Dive Bombers, he aided a Spitfire pilot forced to make an emergency landing. Douglas got the plane airborne and engaged the Luftwaffe, downing several bombers before running out of fuel and landing in Nazi-controlled territory across the Channel. He battled Nazis and rescued an English RAF pilot named Dring. The pair stole petrol, refueled the Spitfire, and returned to England pursued by Messerschmitts, which they defeat in aerial combat. Black Douglas was an excellent swordsman and fighter, armed with a Toledo sword and a Flintlock pistol. The Spring of Eternal Life made Black immortal. The mysterious gases enabled him to knock people out, create smokescreens, and breath flame.
