A swami’s best race car, the Silver Streak, was a constant target of sabotage. Every time someone drove it, they were attacked and killed by a giant insect. When no other driver would accept the position, a taxi driver volunteered. The swami hypnotized the volunteer to be “a great and fearless driver”. When the taxi driver was attacked, killed, and buried, the swami dug up his body and brought him back to life. The resurrected body displayed super strength, and ran off. The villainous Fly threatened the city with destruction. Giant insects attacked. The resurrected man got behind the wheel of the Silver Streak, drove to the giant insect, and defeated it. In later adventures, the Silver Streak became a costumed hero with a “secret fluid” in his blood, allowing him to defy gravity. The Silver Streak could transfer his powers to others through blood transfusions, resulting in his sidekick Mercury/Meteor and his pet falcon, Whiz, who all received powers. The Silver Streak battled the likes of the Green Dragon. He wore special “suction shoes” which allowed him to reach greater speeds, as well as the ability to run up walls. He was based in New York City.
