Patricia Montez was the leader of the Apaches, a Robin Hood type of gang that stole from the rich and gave to the poor. She always left a purple mask behind at the scene of her crimes. She began her adventures in Paris, but was active on both sides of the Atlantic. She was tracked by private investigator Phil Kelly, who was hired by her enemies. It turned out that Kelly was actually the mysterious gang leader known as The Sphinx. Montez is a master of disguise, able to pass herself off as a man.
