Purple Zombie

Dr. Malinsky used young Dr. Kimberly Hale’s invention to restore to life the body of an unidentified man. Instead of prolonging life, however, it animated the dead man, turning him into a zombie. Malinsky aimed to create zombie armies and become “ruler of the living and the dead.” During an argument, Malinsky shot Hale. Malinsky was then strangled to death by the zombie, who, in his own words, is “without a conscience…but not without a brain.” Hale survived the shooting. The Purple Zombie destroys Malinsky’s allies, and was then captured by the police and sentenced to death. On the electric chair (“This’ll be the first time I ever saw a guy die twice!”), he didn’t die, because his skin did not conduct electricity. Hale discovered that “Zoro”, the Purple Zombie, obeyed his commands. The court released the zombie into his custody. Notorious mob boss Joe Coroza considered the zombie a potential asset, and kidnapped him. Hale fought the gangsters, as well as the Mechanized Skeleton, to recover him. In later adventures, the two traveled back in time. They battled Saracens, and met King Richard, The Lionheart. On another trip, they traveled to Rome during the reign of Nero, where they narrowly escaped the Great Fire. (Apparently a very popular destination for time travelers; see Spookman.) The Purple Zombie possessed super-strength, and was bullet-proof and immune to electricity.
