Patty O’Day was one of the first (of many) female civilian types of heroes to debut in the late ’30s/early ’40s. In some stories she was a reporter, while in others a news photographer. She had an assistant/sidekick, Ham. Either with him at her side or out on her own, whether reporting or photographing, she would solve crimes and mysteries.
