Horror host Dr. Death introduces “The House in the Web” whose lord and master is Mr. Avarice, greed personified, and is staffed by the living dead, trapped there by their own misdeeds, forced to count money for all eternity. Charles Grayson, wealthy owner of Castle Hills, is haunted by Mr. Avarice, who he sold his soul to many years earlier. Sick and close to death, to break his pact with Mr. Avarice he makes a new pact with a burglar Joe Bradley, to inherit his house and wealth and watch his body. Grayson dies soon after, and Bradley moves in to the castle, but finds that Grayson’s body has indeed disappeared and that all the money has turned to water. Bradley learns about and finds the House in the Web and Mr. Avarice, who he intends to kill. Unfortunately, the bullets Bradley fires at Avarice cause no harm. “To kill me, my friend, you have to kill the greed in your own heart first!” Which Bradley fails to do, joining Grayson as living dead serving Avarice.
