The Earth is at war with the Blue Men of Talus III. Dr. Meade, who appears to be an Earthling, describes Earthlings to the blue men as “pitiless creatures”. Commander John Cogan of the Earth Forces listens as Dr. Meade calls the Blue Men “the worst creatures in the universe”. In the midst of battle, the flagship of Earth Forces is badly damaged. As Cogan looks on, Dr. Meade fades out, his last words a celebratory statement of doom. Cogan realizes Dr. Meade was a spy working for Talus III, and commands the ships to retreat until he knows more. He calls Talus III to arrange a meeting with the Talus Forces. Dr. Meade tries to convince Wejus, leader of the Talus fleet, to ignore the request. Wejus instead arranges for Cogan to come to the Talus ship. Dr. Meade uses a ray to kill a Talus warrior, and escapes by fading out, stating the weapons of Talus and Earth will not defeat him. Meeting with Wejus, Cogan is discovers the people of Talus to be “decent men”. Wejus and Cogan go to discover the true nature of Meade. Wejus invites the Earth ships to Talus III to replenish their draining energy cells. The pair take some large birds as transportation to meet the First Adviser. The First Adviser of Talus listens to the story and decides that Earth will unite with Talus III to destroy the evil of Dr. Meade. As they follow Meade’s trail to a dark galaxy, Meade, using the ability to expand his consciousness and see all, sends Liquid Space Blobs to attack the Earth and Talus III ships. Cogan orders the preparation of the new weapon “Cold Rays”, designed for reducing everything to absolute zero. The Earth Forces freeze the attacking blobs. On the Talus ship, Wejus tells Cogan that Dr. Meade was on the ship, but had fled. Cogan catches up to Dr. Meade and freezes him with the cold ray. Wejus and Cogan assure peace between their planets, never again to let the words of a single person incite hatred against each other.
