The detectives Fred Eager and Benny Beaver comprise the Eager Beaver Detective Agency. Fred’s girlfriend, Lorna, stands to inherit a million dollars from Horace Brent, her deceased uncle. The stipulation is that she must spend a night in Horace’s mansion, Brent Manor. The mansion is purportedly haunted. Two lawyers of the Fielding and Jones law offices deliver the news. Fred and Benny go along with Lorna to help her fulfill the requirements of the will. They encounter events which are apparently supernatural. Some of these events are faked by Fielding and Jones in a bid to steal the inheritance. The apparition of Horace Brent that they encounter is genuine. Fred and Benny display adequate detective skills, and Fred uses a revolver.
