Originally a costumed murderer in a play by the same name, it appeared as if jealous actor Perry Knight had turned the role into reality by shooting his rival for the affections of actress Linda Lytell. The Woman in Red catches the real Black Death, Mr. Weber. The theater owner dressed as the character to frame Knight and eliminate his rivals for Lytell. The Black Death dresses in a black form-fitting costume, head-to-foot, with the emblem of a skull on his chest.
