Dr. Albert Carlton devises a way to kill his body for 15 minutes. After the allotted time, his cohort, Dr. Clode, is to turn on a machine that will return Carlton to the land of the living. After being ferried by Death across a river to the land of the dead, Carlton is quizzed by Death’s black robed assistants. When it is determined he doesn’t belong there, he is tormented. Death requests his presence at the dock, where he sees Dr. Clode arriving into the afterlife. Dr. Albert Carlton realizes his hopes to return to the land of the living are dashed.
